Content Management Systems and What They Can Do
Content management system (CMS) software is any program that allows a user to quickly and easily update web content, without needing to write new code every time. This kind of system can be used for a variety of different online goals. Here are three popular examples of content management systems, and a brief description of what they can do.
- WordPress. This is by far the most popular CMS software in the world today. WordPress is generally used for blogging, due to its easy-to-understand interface and customizability. The WordPress community is massive, and always willing to share plug-ins and theme ideas.

- Joomla. Another well-loved platform, Joomla is also used for Cms web design, and is a popular choice among web hosting services. Hosters can easily set up and manage accounts for clients, and the clients themselves can easily begin designing and perfecting their own websites. Plugins are available as well, though not as many free ones as WordPress.

- CentralPoint. Enterprise CMS web design software includes the ability to establish portals, and CentralPoint is a fine example. Portals allow employees to access the company’s web applications from outside the company network, using their home computers or mobile devices. This can provide a huge boost in productivity and efficiency, and has made CentralPoint a favorite among corporate clients.
There are hundreds of CMS options available. Do you have a favorite? Tell us about it in the comments section below.

WordPress is great, I guess, but EVERYONE uses it. I know that’s supposed to be a good thing, but it seems to be monopolizing the market a bit. I want to see a scrappy upstart!
