Three Reasons That I Decided to Enroll My Child in Daycare

Daycare chula vista ca

I was recently looking for child care in San Diego because my daughter was in her terrible twos, she needed more structure and greater learning opportunities than I had the patience or the creativity to give her. I am not ashamed to admit that searching for daycare in san diego nearly broke me. As a mother I was terrified of selecting the wrong place. Could I afford this place over that place even if it meant that she got more attentive care? A complete nightmare. I know that one day I will have to find a decent preschool in san diego, but until then I am just satisfied that I was even able to find a good daycare.

Even though my daycare experience was stressful and traumatizing I do not want to discourage anyone from getting their child into a good daycare or preschool. Therefore, in atonement for my rant, here are three reasons to make sure your child gets into daycare, or preschool, or any early education facility.

1. Child care has been around for a very long time.

Generally, the argument that just because something has been happening for a long time means it must be good is a rather flimsy argument. In this case, we know that modern civilization has taken to professional child care for good reasons. France was one of the first nations to recognize an official day care organization, known as the Societe des Creches in 1869. Daycare had been around prior to that though, since about 1840.

It is a well studied fact that the children who are provided an opportunity to participate in day care, preschool, or other early education programs will enjoy the benefit of a healthier and wealthier future than the children who missed out.

This seems wildly unfair, but of course what it comes down to is that these early education programs boost brainpower for little ones. Daycare with an educational emphasis is an opportunity that your children literally can not afford to miss out on.

2. Young children are especially receptive to learning.

Did you know that a toddler can pick up high frequency sounds better than adults can? This may explain why when I tested out that dog whistle app on my Iphone my daughter had a fit. In any case, it also means that toddlers have good ears and are therefore very receptive to new sounds. On average, a two year old will add five new words to their growing vocabulary almost every single day!

3. Young children are a handful.

Did I really have to list this one? Children are almost never more active than they are at two years of age. They have endless energy and capacity to learn, so if there was ever a good time to get your kids into an educational facility, now is that time.

Still not convinced? Well that is a shame. Daycare can only bring good things to you and your kid, so I truly encourage you to press on through the stress and the running around that you will have to do to find the right place. Get more on this here.

Are there accreditation systems in place? Like, for instance, can I find an “approved” facility?
